Truth of Being born a Manglik

I am sure every one of us have our Janam patri’s made by our family Pandits and there is something called “Mangal Dosha” that every parent dreads.

So if your horoscope declares you a Manglik do you need to worry? And what do Pandit’s mean by Mangliks!!
We are sure that many of us do not understand what a “Manglik” means before Aishwarya Rai married Abhishek Bachchan. The newspapers went berserk with the news that Aishwarya Rai had to symbolically marry a peepal tree, before she tied the knot with Abhishek. And all this was to nullify the “Mangal Dosha”.

Regardless of whether Aishwarya married a tree or not, there has always been a hype surrounding those brides and grooms who are ‘Manglik’. So, here is some information that will help you know if you are a manglik and does it really matter.

Are you a Manglik?

Though there has never been any research and scientific proof to say that unmatched Manglik couples are going to be less happy than the matched ones, but our shastras passed from generations have believed in the ‘Mangal Dosha’ and stars movement. Many hindus believe that if you are born under the Manglik Star or the Mangal Dosha, there can be serious problems in your married life. In fact many Hindu Priests have scientifically proved that any marriage between a manglik and non-manglik can lead to divorce or a death of the partner. Let’s see what if you are a Manglik.

What is Manglik?

According to Vedic astrology, a person is a Manglik or has active Mangal Dosha in his or her horoscope, if the planet Mars is placed in either 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of their lunar chart. These different houses represent different aspects of life, such as contentment and mental peace (4th), marriage (7th), and long life (8th).

Let’s understand the “Mangal Dosh”

Mangal Dosh is associated with the planet Mars. Mars represents self-esteem, temperament, ego, and strife. It is an aggressive planet. If placed in specific areas of the birth chart (kundali), you could be aggressive and violent and that could possibly lead to marital discord. That is how the Manglik theory came into being. Those who believe in Mangal Dosha believe that the compatibility between the prospective bride and groom is marred slightly because of the Manglik effect. Whether you are a Manglik or not, is determined by your horoscope. Your horoscope is based on the date, year, time and place of your birth.

With so much importance given to whether the prospective bride or groom is a Manglik or not, there are quite a few myths associated to being a Manglik too…

If you are born on Tuesday, then you are by default a Manglik- Many people misconstrue that Mangal Dosh to Mangalvaar born. Astrologically this is total false information. To conclude though Marriage is all about trust and understanding there are many who strongly believe in the Mangal Dosh. While there are Priests who may suggest various ways to ward off the evil associated with this dosha, there are many who disregard this theory completely. Though Astrology is something that is based upon the relationship of astronomical phenomena and events in the human world, it’s each to his own. If you want to believe it then go ahead and if you are one of the non-believers then please marry who you love irrespective of his/her doshas.
